ODESSA - The first arrest for Odessa Police this year came after an Odessa man ran through a railroad crossing.
Jeffery Natividad was arrested just after 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police were sitting at the crossing between First Street and Murphy when Natividad came speeding down the street hitting the crossing arms and taking off down Crane and Second Street.
Police tried to stop him but he didn't stop until he lost control of the pickup and hit a pole.
Natividad then got out of the truck and ran down an alley but was quickly caught.
Officers say they could smell alcohol on his breath.
Natividad was charged with evading arrest and driving while intoxicated.
It's unknown if union pacific will prosecute Natividad for interfering with railroad property.
