New Mexico Man Killed in Midland County Accident

MIDLAND COUNTY – A New Mexico man is dead following an afternoon accident in Midland County.

The accident happened on FM 1788 about 20 miles southwest of Midland on Tuesday.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2008 Ford F-350 was traveling northbound on FM 1788 when the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to pass a semi-trailer.

The vehicle then rolled into a barrow ditch before coming to a rest on its side.

The driver, 38-year-old Roberto Jauquez-Nevarez of Farmington, New Mexico, was killed in the accident.

Officials stated that road conditions in the area were icy and sleet was falling in the area of the accident.

The report also stated that Jauquez-Nevarez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
