ODESSA – Odessa Police have arrested two people in connection with tire and rim thefts in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, 21-year-old Alejando Ortiz and 17-year-old Dante Flores were arrested for theft.

The two men were arrested after Odessa Police received a call on Tuesday morning in reference to a suspicious vehicle in the 5300 block of North Grandview.

When officers arrived on the scene, officers saw a red 1998 Ford F-150 parked in an apartment complex with a male subject lying in the front seat. That person was identified as Ortiz.

According to a report, the Ford F-150 was parked next to a black 2014 GMC Sierra that was sitting on cinder blocks, with three of its tires missing. Officers located the tires nearby.

Flores was arrested on Monday on an unrelated felony warrant and Flores later admitted to stealing wheels and tires from a yellow 1999 Ford Mustang in the 3600 block of Archuleta back in November.

A felony theft warrant was issued for Flores who had already bonded out on the felony warrant.

Flores was later found in the 1200 block of Oak on Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the theft continues and more arrests are anticipated.
