New Details Released Regarding Deadly Accident in Odessa

ODESSA - We're learning more about a deadly accident in Odessa.

33-year-old Juan Sanchez is now facing first degree murder charges.

Police say he was the driver in the one car crash that killed his passenger, 32-year-old Faustino Calderon, early Tuesday morning.

According to the affidavit, Sanchez told officers he wrecked the car on purpose to try and kill himself.

The report says Sanchez and Calderon were out drinking all night.

The two got in the car and Sanchez told Calderon to get out so he could kill himself but Calderon refused.

Sanchez hit 95 miles an hour and then swerved on the wet road and that's when the vehicle crashed.

Sanchez was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police also say when they talked to Sanchez, they could smell alcohol on him, he had red, bloodshot eyes and he was slurring his speech.
