ODESSA - The Odessa Police Department is helping families in need this Christmas.

The department teamed up with Albertson's to deliver holiday meals to 15 families.

They tell NewsWest 9, it all came about when they noticed how well the economy is doing but some families are struggling to put meals on the table.

During thanksgiving, they delivered meals to 10 families and made it their goal to deliver to more families this Christmas.

"I know talking to the officers, when we did it on Thanksgiving, they encouraged us to do it for Christmas because of the good feeling that they had in giving back to the community," Lou Orras, Deputy Chief of the Odessa Police Department, said.

Police say they wouldn't have been able to do this without the help from employees of the Odessa Police Department, the District Attorney's Office, the Odessa Teddy Bear Patrol and the Odessa Peace Officer Memorial.
