STELRING COUNTY – An Austin man was killed in a weekend accident in Sterling County.

The accident happened on Sunday on State Highway 163 about two miles south of Sterling City.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2012 Ford F-150, driven by 24-year-old Robert Babb, was traveling southbound on State Highway 163 when for an unknown reason traveled across the yellow line into the northbound lane hitting a 2015 Mack Truck Tractor.

The collision caused the Ford F-150 to travel down the side of the big rig hitting the front left trailer duals head-on. The F-150 then spun around, entered a barrow ditch and came to a rest on its top.

Babb was pronounced dead at the scene. We're told that Babb was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The big rig driver, 24-year-old Cody Miles, was taken to Shannon Medical Center for his injuries.
