MIDLAND - There's some confusion regarding the status of a Midland Police officer's wife.

According to new information from the City of Midland, comments from the public led Midland Police to revisit if Sandra Simpson was actually dead on Tuesday.

Those comments involved reports she is on life support.

Authorities say they were not able to confirm if that was true.

Midland Memorial Hospital does not list her as a patient but that could be due to patient privacy or other circumstances surrounding her injuries.

For now, the shooting is still being investigated by Texas Rangers as a murder-suicide.

Police were called out to Sergeant Chad Simpson's house on Crenshaw Drive after getting a 911 call with no one on the other end.

Officers found Simpson dead from a gunshot wound inside the home.

His wife, Sandra, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Sergeant Simpson was with the Midland Police Department for nine years.

He most recently worked in the Traffic division but also served patrol and K-9 assignments.

Friends of Sandra say she worked at the Midland Women's Clinic.

The couple had twin toddlers and they are being cared for by a relative.

An account has been set up for them.

If you'd like to donate, the Midland Municipal Police Officers Association (MMPOA) has set up an account with Community National Bank with account #10148733. Checks must be made out to MMPOA and can include further description on the memo line. Donations can be dropped off at any Community National Bank or mailed to: MMPOA, P.O.
