Recent felony arrests by the Odessa Police Department for December 12, 2014.
36-year-old Canuto Tarango and 22-year-old Misty Marie Rayos

Odessa Police arrested Tarango on 12-12-14 at 0122 hours for Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility "3rd Degree Felony", Possession of Marijuana "State Jail Felony", and two misdemeanor traffic warrants. Odessa Police also arrested Rayos for Possession of Cocaine "2nd Degree Felony" and Possession of Marijuana "Class B Misdemeanor".

Officers observed a blue Ford F-150 traveling southbound in the 4200 block of Golder with no license plate light. A traffic stop was conducted in the 800 block of West 42nd Street and the driver was identified as Tarango and the passenger as Rayos. While making contact with the driver, officers could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Officers searched Tarango and discovered two marijuana pipes and a bag of marijuana in his front left pocket. Officers searched Rayos and discovered marijuana inside her purse along with a scale used for weighing marijuana. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered additional bags of marijuana between the driver's seat and center console.

Rayos advised officers that she had concealed cocaine on her person. Tarango advised officers that he had more marijuana inside his boxers. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Tarango was placed into custody for possession of marijuana "SJF" and was transported to the ECLEC.

Rayos was also placed into custody for possession of marijuana "MB" and was transported to the ECLEC. Upon arrival at the ECLEC, investigation revealed that a bag of a white powdery substance had dropped out of her pants onto the ground. The substance tested positive for cocaine and weighed approximately 17.7 grams.

After Tarango was booked into the ECLEC, a ECSO jailer discovered an additional bag of marijuana in Tarango's boxers. Tarango was additionally charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility. The total weight of the marijuana was approximately 20.28 ounces. The cocaine and marijuana were both turned into evidence.

25-year-old Jeremy Johnson

Odessa Police arrested Johnson for Parole Violation Warrant - Burglary of a Building, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to 2450 NW Loop 338 (Wal-Mart West) in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Wal-Mart personnel, who advised they observed a male subject take an MP3 player and exit the store without making any attempt to pay for it.

The male subject was identified as Johnson. Dispatch advised Johnson had a felony parole violation warrant out of Victoria County for burglary of a habitation. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Johnson was charged and arrested accordingly. Johnson was also cited for Theft "Class C Misdemeanor". He was then transported to the ECLEC.

18-year-old Alejandro Leon

Odessa Police arrested Leon on 12-11-14 at approximately 0924 hours for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony", Possession of Marijuana "Class B Misdemeanor", and for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Officers observed a white 2003 Cadillac CTS traveling southbound on Hillcrest fail to signal while turning westbound onto 2nd Street.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Leon. While making contact with Leon, officers could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the glove box. Officers also located a white substance underneath the driver's seat.

The substance tested positive for cocaine. Investigation revealed Leon had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants out for his arrest. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Leon was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.

52-year-old Edward Silvas

Odessa Police arrested Silvas on 12-11-14 at approximately 1538 hours for Parole Violation Warrant - Burglary of a Habitation, a 2nd Degree Felony. Officers conducted a search warrant in the 300 block of Elliot Avenue and located Silvas inside the residence. Dispatch advised Silvas had a felony parole violation warrant for burglary of a habitation. Silvas was charged and arrested accordingly.

24-year-old Fernando Navarette

Odessa Police arrested Navarette on 12-11-14 at approximately 1330 hours for Parole Violation Warrant – Burglary of a Habitation, a 2nd Degree Felony. Officers responded to the 3200 block of Chestnut in reference to a family disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who advised they had been in an argument with a family member, identified as Navarette.
