Late Night Accident in Odessa Turns Deadly

ODESSA - An Odessa man is dead and two other people were injured in a late night accident in Odessa.

The accident happened around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night on Interstate 20.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2005 Hyundai Accent was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Interstate 20 when the vehicle hit a 2014 GMC Uhaul Truck head-on.

The driver of the Hyundai, 63-year-old David P. Rodriguez of Odessa, was killed in the accident.

Two people in the Uhaul Truck, 30-year-old Walter Sakaki of Cresent Valley, Alabama and 26-year-old Tracy Sakaki of Fayetteville, Georgia, were taken to Medical Center Hospital with injuries.

According to the report, Rodriguez was not wearing a seat belt.
