Two Killed, One Injured in Accident in Glasscock County

GLASSCOCK COUNTY – Two people are dead and another person was injured following an evening accident in Glasscock County on Sunday.

The accident happened at the intersection of State Highway 137 and State Highway 158, approximately 14 miles west of Garden City around 6:40 p.m.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2012 GMC Yukon was traveling west on Highway 158 and a 2006 Kia Sorento was stopped at the intersection of Highway 137 and Highway 158.

The Kia then pulled out northbound into the intersection and failed to yield the right of way to the GMC Yukon causing the two vehicles to collide.

The driver of the GMC Yukon, 58-year-old Kathy Jo Freeman of Midland wasn't injured. However, the driver of the Kia Sorento, 61-year-old Maria Moncada of Midland was injured in the accident and taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.

Two other passengers in the Kia Sorento, 79-year-old Maria Felicitas Gomez of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and 57-year-old Elsa Alicia Gomez, a Mexican citizen, were killed in the accident.

No other information about the accident was released.
