Warrant Out for Suspect Wanted in Miss-Me Jean Theft

ODESSA - As soon as we posted this story on our Facebook back in October, viewers immediately recognized the woman in the video. Sure enough, police were able to identify her as someone who they've brought into custody several times already.

When you're caught on surveillance cameras shoplifting, the store will call authorities, the police will get involved who will then ask the media for assistance and we broadcast it on television and Facebook in order to hunt you down. Sort of a food chain for criminals. This is what Caught on Camera is all about.

When we did our part last month by putting a woman's face on TV for all of West Texas to see, Facebook nearly blew up.

"We asked the public for their assistance in identifying her, a tip has identified her. We got numerous tips in on this case. A warrant has been obtained for the arrest of Belinda L. Hart, she also goes by Belinda Goulsby," Susan Rogers with Odessa Crime Stoppers, said.

Many of the comments we couldn't show, thanks to cyber-bullies, but everyone seemed to know exactly who the woman stealing Miss-Me jeans from Dillard's was. She's famous, as far as Odessa goes.

One viewer wrote, "Belinda's not hiding. She's wreaking havoc all over Odessa. She's been arrested several times in West Texas since these pics." Another wrote, "Oh, I know her name and her game."

As it turns out, Ms. Hart is a frequent flyer to jail and already has a mugshot in the system. Maybe she was stealing Miss-Me jeans because she already missed being in jail.

"This is just one of those cases that absolutely worked. We have great video, we have great cooperation out of Dillard's, your viewers paid close attention," Rogers said. "We started getting phone calls immediately on that. It's taken a little while to get the case together but it is together and like I said, we've got a warrant now and we need information on where to go pick her up."

It just goes to show, not all of my Caught on Camera's are stupid. Yes, we read your Facebook comments.

Thank you to those who sent in tips. They are still looking for her, so if you know where she may be, please call Odessa Crime Stoppers at 333-TIPS.
