MIDLAND - A Midland man is behind bars accused of assaulting his estranged wife.
Favian Ramos is behind bars for aggravated assault family violence.
According to court documents, just before one Sunday night police were called out to a home in the 1200 block of West Washington Street.
The victim told authorities her estranged husband turned violent after finding a conversation on her phone.
She said Ramos mounted her on a chair and began choking her with her own hair and that's when the victim ran to the neighbor's house for help.
While waiting for police, she went back to her computer to try to locate her phone that she believed Ramos has taken.
That's when she says Ramos returned and started to punch and slap her, he then threw her laptop at her hitting her in the face.
Police later caught up with Ramos at a bar he was known to be at.
Ramos admitted to police he spit on the victim because she was cheating on him but said he knew nothing of an assault.
Ramos was taken in for the assault as well as an upgraded charge for driving with an invalid license.
