CARLSBAD, N.M. – A Hobbs man is dead following an industrial accident late Friday night.
Deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff's Office were called out to State Road 128, near the intersection of Twin Wells around 11:25 p.m.
The Eddy County Sheriff's Office tells NewsWest 9, it was determined that a BOBCO lease location had an explosion occur while a drilling rig was operating, causing several people to be injured.
One person, 23-year-old Noel Soto, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the explosion.
Two others were airlifted to Lubbock Medical Center in critical condition and a fourth person was taken to Carlsbad Medical Center.
