Intoxicated Driver Crashes Into Odessa Police Vehicle

ODESSA – One man is behind bars after crashing his vehicle into an Odessa Police vehicle.
The accident happened early Sunday morning at the intersection of JBS Parkway and Highway 80 just before 1:15 a.m.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, an Odessa Police officer was stopped in the left turn lane of the intersection in a marked patrol unit when a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban traveling eastbound on Highway 80 hit the back of the patrol unit.
Following the accident, the officer on the scene could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the breath of 30-year-old Oscar Jimenez.
Jimenez was later taken into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests.
Jimenez was charged and arrested.
We're told the officer sustained no injuries during the accident.
