MIDLAND-  A little before 4 a.m. Monday morning, Midland Police were called to the 500 block of Carver Street on Midland's south side. When police got to the scene, 27-year-old Humberto Joshua Ramos was lying on the ground after being shot multiple times.

"They found Mr. Ramos lying in the actual street and were able to transport him to the hospital where he later died," Sara Bustilloz, Public Information Officer with the City of Midland, said.

Police believe they have a motive behind the shooting.

"At this time, it appears the homicide was possibly in connection with a drug related dispute. At this time, we're still interviewing witnesses and the investigation is still ongoing. We have a couple leads were following so hopefully soon, we'll have a few suspects," Bustilloz said.

One neighbor heard the ambulance but not the gunfire.

"I heard the ambulance. I didn't think it was gunshots, nothing like that. I didn't think somebody died," the neighbor said.

The city has seen a decrease in crime over the last 10 years. Especially when it comes to Part-One crimes.

"Part-One crimes are robbery, auto theft, aggravated assault and manslaughter," Bustilloz said.

The City is urging Midlanders to look at the website crimemapping.com to look up the exact location for Part-One crime statistics in their area.

"We're always using statistics to take a look at what's happening in different parts of town, how we can better engage residents to be on the look out in their own neighborhoods. We always want to prevent these kind of things before it happens and we're working harder now more than ever," Bustilloz said.

Midland Police are still looking for Monday's gunmen. They are asking the public in looking for two overweight white males between ages of 40-50. They might be driving in a late 1990's to early 2000's dropped SUV either a Trailblazer, Jimmy or a Kia model with square headlights and grey/chrome rims.

If you've seen this vehicle, you are urged to call Midland Police at 432-685-7108 or Midland Crime Stoppers at 432-694-TIPS.
