Veteran's Day Events in the Basin


Bonham Elementary School, 909 Bonham St.

Veteran family members will have lunch with students on Tuesday, November 11; veterans will be honored during the students' lunch periods.

Bowie Fine Arts Academy, 805 Elk Ave.
Principal Laurie Sherrod, 240-6100
Bowie Fine Arts Academy will host a Veterans Day Program at 9 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, in the school gym. The program will include dancers, band, orchestra and choir members, pianists, and theatre students. Artwork by children will be included, and a reception for veterans will follow.

Carver Center, 1300 E. Wall St.
Principal Amanda Magallan, 240-6400
Carver Center will host a reception in the school library at the beginning of the school day on Tuesday, November 11. Students will then meet for an assembly in the new gym at 8:30 a.m. Each veteran present will be honored.

Goddard Junior High School, 2500 Haynes Ave.

The Goddard Junior High School Band will hold a special concert at 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, in Gym A of the school.

Henderson Elementary School, 4800 Graceland Drive

Henderson Elementary School will host a Veterans Day program at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, at the school.

Lee High School, 3500 Neely Ave.

The Lee High School JROTC will present the colors during a Veterans Day ceremony at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, at St. Ann's School, 2000 W. Texas Ave. At the end of the school day, they will place flags on the graves of veterans at Fairview Cemetery, 1400 N. Pecos St.

Pease Communication & Technology Academy will host a Veterans Day program at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, in front of the school. Veterans will be invited to be recognized.

Rusk Elementary School, 2601 Wedgewood St.

Rusk Elementary School will host the 17th Annual USO Show Veterans Day Program at 10:15 a.m., Friday, November 14, at the CAF Hangar, 9600 Wright Drive. Following the show, each veteran will receive a gift. H-E-B will provide a sack lunch for each veteran and his/her guest for “Picnic in the Planes.”

San Jacinto Junior High School, 1400 N. ‘N' St.

San Jacinto Junior High School Choir, Band, Orchestra, Social Studies, and AVID programs will host a Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11, at the CAF Hangar, 9600 Wright Drive. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a performance at 7 p.m.

Hands of Compassion to Honor Veterans
4th Annual “Veterans 4 Veterans, Serving Those Who Have Served Us” Dinner to honor VFW Post 4149
The event will take place at 409 Veterans Airpark Lane in Midland.
Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Midland College, 3600 N. Garfield
On Tuesday, November 11, Midland College (MC) will honor all military veterans at a special ceremony to be held at 11:00 a.m. in Beal Plaza located outside the Scharbauer Student Center on the main MC campus. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and stay afterward for a reception in the Carrasco Room.


Ross Elementary School, 4600 Everglade
Ross Elementary is once again teaming with CableOne for its Take a Veteran to School program. CableOne and Ross have worked together on this event each of the past three years, and will have as many as 10 veterans and active duty personnel at the school. There will also be t-shirt giveaways along with bracelets and pins. Program will run from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Odessa College, 201 W. University
Veterans to be Honored at Concert
OC Concert band in conjunction with OC Choir and Theatre Department will present a tribute to veterans at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the Deaderick Auditorium on the OC Campus. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free.

Join UTPB for a morning of recognizing and honoring our nations veterans.
Event will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 10 a.m. in the Mesa Building Courtyard.
Complimentary drinks and snacks will be provided during the ceremony.
