TERLINGUA – Authorities have completed their exhumation of remains that were found in a Terlingua home on Wednesday.

According to the Brewster County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the remains were found under the kitchen floor in the Broughton residence.

Officials believe the remains are thought to be those of 80-year-old Mary Broughton, the mother of Judith Broughton.

As you may recall, Judith Broughton, was recently sentenced for stealing her father's Social Security benefits for over 20 years.

Her father's mummified remains were later found in a storage unit in Kentucky.

Judith Broughton led the sheriff's office to her home where the discovery was made and she also admitted to collecting Mary Broughton's Social Security benefits until May.

The remains have been sent to Lubbock for an autopsy to confirm the identification of the remains as well as cause and manner of death.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
