MIDLAND - A local business owner is holding a Fair Trade Market this weekend to help out women in Latin America.
Deborah Brown is the owner of Colores Del Pueblo.
She opened up her business back in 1997.
She said she was inspired to jump start her business after traveling to Latin America and seeing the poverty there.
She helps women in Guatemala and Peru sell their products in the United States by holding the fair trade markets.
“I came back and found a way that I could help these women who had formed cooperatives in their own village. I just help them market their products here. We work with them on designs and we always try to incorporate traditional textiles into western style clothing,” Brown said.
The Fair Trade Market is being held on Friday and Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Midland.
You can get your hands on unique, one-of-a-kind gifts including clothing, jewelry, purses, home decor and much more.
