Odessa City Officials Cracking Down on Teen Drinking, Drug Use
Staff Report NewsWest 9
ODESSA - City officials are cracking down on teen drinking and drug use.
The City of Odessa and Odessa Crime Stoppers have teamed up to prevent underage drinking and drug use on Friday during and after the Odessa High vs. Permian football game.
Odessa Mayor David Turner has donated $1,000 to crime stoppers for any tips of underage drinkers or parties.
Any tips that result in a citation or an arrest will be worth at $200.
Officials say they want people to have fun but they're also doing this to keep the students safe.
"It's a night to have fun, Halloween, and there will be lots of parties. We're just putting the safety of our students first and we felt that we needed to do this to save lives if necessary,” Odessa City Manager, Richard Morton, said.
If you know of any parties that involve alcohol and drugs, call Crime Stoppers at 333-TIPS.
