ODESSA – Two people are behind bars on different charges following a traffic stop in Odessa.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9 they saw a white 1991 Chevrolet truck traveling in the 1600 block of South Grant on Monday afternoon that wasn't displaying a registration sticker.
A traffic stop was conducted and a passenger in the vehicle was identified as 47-year-old Julie Ann Tedford.
We're told an investigation revealed that the vehicle was displaying plates that came back to a 2005 Dodge Truck and Tedford was found to be in possession of a bag of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.
Tedford was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
The driver of the truck was cited for driving with a suspended license and for expired registration. Tedford told officers that she was an escort and she was going to rent a room so she could “work.”
As officers were searching the truck, a Hispanic male walked up to officers and asked them what they were doing with his friends. The officers told the man to stay back while they were searching the vehicle.
The man continued to talk and distract the officers, so they asked him for his identification.
The man was identified as 42-year-old Jose Daniel Reyes. Officers later learned that Reyes had a felony burglary warrant for his arrest.
Reyes was arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation.
