HOWARD COUNTY - Howard County officials have decided to hold off on any changes to the jail.
Last week, NewsWest 9 reported that the jail was overflowing and that it needed to be expanded.
The sheriff says the population numbers at the jail have backed off to lower levels recently and that they decided not to make a request for more beds.
We're told if they asked for more beds that would've set off other requirements for the jail and the county, such as expansion to the building.
They say if there is a spike in the jail population, they already have agreements with other counties to house those inmates.
