ODESSA - New details are emerging in the murder investigation at 2821 Hilltop. We're told Odessa Police went to the house on a welfare check after someone told them they had not heard from their family member in a few days. She was concerned that her relative might be hurt or dead.

According to the arrest report, when police walked through the front door, they made a very disturbing discovery. Officials found a decomposing body wrapped up in blankets and towels in the living room. The report states a male was bound at the hands and feet with speaker wire, zip ties and an electrical cord.

"Due to the condition of the body, investigators were unable to identify it so the body has been sent off to Tarrant County for an autopsy," Steve LeSueur, Communications Officer with the Odessa Police Department, said.

The report later goes on to state that officials spoke with a friend of 28-year-old Shawn Pinson. That man claimed just a few days before the body was discovered, he went to Pinson's home.

He said he told Pinson he could smell a strong odor from inside the house. He told officers that Pinson was acting weird. When he asked what was wrong, Pinson said there was a body inside.

According to the report, the friend went inside the home and saw the body in the living room. He said Pinson told him that he, "didn't mean to kill him but he had stolen from him."

The report states when Pinson was questioned by police, he refused to talk and asked for a lawyer. He's been charged with murder. Pinson was already behind bars on unrelated charges.

"An investigation revealed that he had knowledge about it and as a result an arrest warrant was obtained for Pinson for murder which is a first degree felony," LeSueur said.
