ODESSA – An Odessa woman is behind bars on charges of injury to a child.
Odessa Police were called out to Dowling Elementary on Wednesday morning in reference to child abuse.
School officials told police that a student arrived at school with bruising and swelling on her forehead, face, back, arms and buttocks.
The student was taken to Harmony Home and was interviewed by a forensic investigator.
During the interview, the five year old told them that her mother got mad at her and began to beat hear with a hairbrush.
The mother was identified as 24-year-old Kelly Jo Bartlett.
Based on the information received during the investigation, a warrant was obtained for Bartlett and she was charged and arrested.
