MIDLAND - Midland College has been awarded with a new grant.
Because of the high demand for petroleum and diesel technicians in the Permian Basin, Midland College received the grant.
The grant is worth more than $200,000 and will be used by the College's Energy and Diesel Technology Programs.
With the grant, Midland College can buy new lab equipment, training systems and a forklift.
The Dean of Applied Technology at Midland College says that with the new equipment, students will get more hands on training.
Midland College is dedicated to keeping a stream of qualified people to meet the job demand.
They estimate that more than 240 petroleum technicians will be needed next year in the Permian Basin.
