MIDLAND - A special guest made a stop in the Basin on Thursday.

TV host John Walsh was at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center talking about the increase of human trafficking.

Human trafficking is continuing to be a growing problem.

The misconception is that human trafficking takes place overseas.

But the reality is that the United States is the number one buyer and seller of sex trafficking and it's an issue that isn't talked about much.

John Walsh spoke with NewsWest 9 about how a local lecture will open people's eyes that human trafficking is an issue in the Basin.

"Any event going on, they are going to go to it and they are going to call each other up and say, ‘hey there's going to be 5,000 kids here,” Walsh said.

The lecture was sponsored by the John Ben Sheppard Public Leadership Institute.
