ODESSA – An Abilene man is behind bars on several charges following a weekend incident in Odessa.
Odessa Police were called out the 3900 block of Tanglewood in reference to an assault on Saturday morning.
When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with a man who had no identification and said his name was Christopher Johnson but officers later learned that his name was 27-year-old Worthy Hickman.
Upon further investigation, officers learned that Hickman had assaulted his girlfriend by choking her with his hands.
When officials asked Hickman to put his hands behind his back, he evaded arrest by running away from police. He was later found hiding in a storage shed.
Hickman was also found to be in violation of a protection order and he also had a warrant for a parole violation.
Hickman has been charged with assault by strangulation, violation of a protective order, evading arrest or detention, false identification and for a parole violation warrant.
