ODESSA- Ebola and the flu have some similar symptoms, so if you start to feel under the weather health officials say don't panic. If you haven't come in contact with someone who has Ebola it's unlikely you will get it. The best way to avoid getting sick is to get your flu shot.

"It's very important to get your flu shot. It helps prevent you from getting the flu first of all and it helps the spread of the flu virus," Sharon Burns, a nurse with Medical Center Hospital, said.

Burns adds simply washing your hands regularly can help prevent getting the flu. If you're starting to feel sick there are a few things you should look out for.

"The symptoms are fever, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, body aches," Burns said.

Although Ebola does have similar symptoms, MCH wants to remind you that it is very unlikely for you to catch it if you haven't been in contact with someone who has the virus. "If you haven't been in contact with the blood from somebody that has Ebola it's not that contagious. You're not going to contract it if you haven't been in contact with that fluid."

If you think you might have the flu, MCH said be sure to drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest.

"We don't want to spread this around so if you have the symptoms stay home and take care of yourself," Burns said.

Medical Center Hospital and their urgent care clinics all offer a flu shot for $25.00
