This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and one local group is doing whatever it takes to bring light to the issue.
The Basin Breast Care Coalition gathered at Memorial Gardens Park on Wednesday.
They talked about upcoming breast care awareness events including "Midessa Goes Pink Day” which will be held on October 17.
The group is asking everyone to wear pink to raise awareness for breast cancer.
"It's a very hard struggle. Cancer is a scary word and when you hear the word cancer, it just strikes fear in your heart,” Fatima Castillo, Executive Director at Gifts of Hope said.
Not only are the events held to raise awareness but to also honor breast cancer survivors and remember the ones who lost their battle with it.
