ODESSA - An awards ceremony was held in Odessa on Tuesday to honor non-profits groups and individuals for their service to West Texas.
32 people and organizations were nominated in nine categories for the Sixth Annual Beacon Awards, which benefits the nonprofit management center of the Permian Basin.
Big Brothers-Big Sisters were given the award for program excellence and the Midland County Public Library Foundation was recognized for excellence in communications.
Frank Deaderick of Basin PBS was honored with the W.D. Noel Volunteer of the Year Award for giving his time to a non-profit in Odessa.
The final award was given to Dianne Williams, who participated in the four month long “Generations Program” which focuses on volunteerism and board leadership.
