Weekend felony arrests by the Odessa Police Department for September 15, 2014.
31-Year-Old Jason Swearengin

Odessa Police arrested Swearengin on 9-12-14 at approximately 0115 hours for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony" along with an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Officers observed a black 2003 Chevrolet Silverado fail to signal a lane change while traveling eastbound in the 300 block of East 2nd Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the listed vehicle and both occupants immediately exited the vehicle.

The front passenger was identified as Swearengin. While searching the listed vehicle, officers discovered a crack rock near the seat where Swearengin had been sitting. Dispatch advised Swearengin had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for speeding. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Swearengin was charged and arrested accordingly.

28-Year-Old Daneilla Galindo

Odessa Police arrested Galindo on 9-13-14 at approximately 0916 hours for Forgery, a State Jail Felony. Officers located Galindo in the 2700 block of Keystone Drive. On 7-11-14, Galindo cashed a check at Complex Community Credit Union in the amount of $6500. The bank teller obtained a thumb print from Galindo. Further investigation revealed that the check had been reported stolen. Investigators traced the thumb print back to Galindo. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, a forgery warrant was obtained for Galindo.

45-Year-Old Baxter Turner

Odessa Police arrested Turner on 9-14-14 at approximately 1956 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a red 2011 Ford Mustang with black racing stripes traveling northbound in the 800 block of South JBS Parkway at an extremely high rate of speed. The Mustang continued speeding northbound traveling 81 mph in a 45 mph zone.

A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Turner. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered a white rock like substance on the driver's seat. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Turner was charged and arrested accordingly.

19-Year-Old John Bustillos

Odessa Police arrested Bustillos on 9-12-14 at approximately 1536 hours for Felon in Possession of a Firearm "3rd Degree Felony" and Theft of a Firearm "3rd Degree Felony". While patrolling the 1800 block of Center, officers observed a blue Toyota Corolla, occupied three times on an empty parking lot with the doors wide open. A traffic stop was conducted and the front passenger was identified as Bustillos.

While searching the listed vehicle, officers discovered a handgun under the front passenger seat. Further investigation revealed that Bustillo was a convicted felon and the handgun had been reported stolen back in 2008. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Bustillos was charged and arrested accordingly.

26-Year-Old Clayton Hiers

Odessa Police arrested Hiers on 9-14-14 at approximately 2300 hours for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony" and Driving While Intoxicated "Class B Misdemeanor". Officers responded to 6201 East Highway 80 (MCM Fun Dome) in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Dispatch advised a red truck was speeding through the back side of the parking lot with no lights on.

Upon arrival, officers observed a red 2010 Ford F-250 with no headlights on and the driver was slumped over the wheel. Upon making contact with the driver, officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver was identified as Hiers. Investigation revealed Hiers to be intoxicated and he was placed into custody.

While searching the listed vehicle, officers discovered cocaine in the driver's side cup holder. Hiers was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Hiers was charged and arrested accordingly.

52-Year-Old Alberto Elorduy and 53-Year-Old Olga Patino

Odessa Police arrested Elorduy and Patino on 9-15-14 at approximately 0408 hours for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony" and Public Intoxication "Class C Misdemeanor". Officers responded to Rodriguez Automotive (Clements and Lincoln) in reference to a male and female doing drugs in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers observed a male and a female next to a gold Toyota Camry.

Patino stated that the vehicle was hers and advised Elorduy had been sitting in the passenger seat. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Elorduy initially gave a false name to officers but further investigation revealed his correct name. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.

41-Year-Old Ruben Pena

Odessa Police arrested Pena on 9-12-14 at approximately 0922 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to the 700 block of McDonald in reference to a wanted subject. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a subject, identified as Pena. Dispatch advised Pena had a felony parole violation warrant for possession of cocaine. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Pena was charged and arrested accordingly.

24-Year-Old Harley Davis

Odessa Police arrested Davis on 9-15-14 at approximately 0053 hours for Injury to an Elderly Person "3rd Degree Felony", Interference with an Emergency Phone Call "Class A Misdemeanor", and two outstanding warrants. Officers responded to the 1600 block of West 20th Street in reference to a disturbance. Investigation revealed that after Davis had been in an argument with a 72-year-old male, Davis grabbed the elderly man's arm and pushed him, causing bodily injury.

The victim reported that Davis had been throwing him around and advised Davis also pushed him in the back bedroom. The victim reported that he proceeded to call 9-1-1. The victim reported that while he was speaking with the 9-1-1 operator, Davis grabbed the phone from him and threw it on the ground, making the phone unusable. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Davis was charged and arrested accordingly.

26-Year-Old Vanessa Chavana

Odessa Police arrested Chavana on 9-14-14 at approximately 1333 hours for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to the 200 block of East 67th Street in reference to a recovered stolen vehicle. An Ector County Sheriff's Office deputy had located a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, occupied two times, which came back stolen. The driver, identified as Chavana, admitted that she had been driving the listed vehicle.
