ODESSA - Homeless veterans aren't often aware of the resources they have at their disposal but on Saturday the Permian Basin Stand Down for Homeless Veterans changed that.
The event was held at the VFW in Odessa.
The Stand Down is all in an effort to educate veterans on the different services that are available to them.
The event included community resources booths, housing information as well as free food and drinks.
“It's our way of reaching out to not only the homeless but the homeless veterans and engaging them in services that they may not know that they have. We introduce them to the community partners that we have,” Daniel Pickel, Chief of Social Work Services for the West Texas VA Healthcare System, said.
Free transportation was also provided for the vets who wanted to participate.
