BIG SPRING - The Big Spring City Council gave their approval on the first readings of both the new tax rate and fiscal year budget.
The budget does include some increases in water and sanitation rates.
Sanitation rates would go up about $3.60 per month.
It would go toward funding the new city landfill project.
Meanwhile, water rates are likely to go up for most customers by $0.50 per month.
The decisions aren't set in stone just yet.
