To remember 9-11, H.E.B honored local firefighters and first responders.

The project is called "Helping Heroes."

The giant retailer visited more than 100 fire stations around the state to show their support and appreciation and also to pay tribute to those who have died during the attacks.

"We feel to honor them we will come out and do public service. So we will come out here today and vacuum, wash, clean, whatever they need done we do it and then we serve them a meal afterwards. Just in appreciation of everything they do," Bob Murphy, Unit Director of H.E.B. Midland, said.

This is the 10th year of the special project which they celebrated with a $100,000 state-wide gift.
