JAL, N.M. - An abandoned building in Jal is getting a new resident.

Rocky Mountain Building Systems will be moving into the Burke Junior High building.

The company builds modular homes.

The City of Jal is renting the building at a low rate of just $1,000 a year with a few conditions.

Those conditions include that rocky mountain will have to employ fifteen employees making at least $20 an hour and continue to increase the number of employees at that pay scale each year.

If they don't, rent jumps to $4,000 a year.

This is all in hopes of helping the housing situation in Jal.

The company will be building 20 housing units under the affordable housing act.
