LEA COUNTY, N.M. – A Hobbs man has been found guilty of numerous charges in connection with a severe beating.
Jerardo Castillo was found guilty last Thursday on charges of kidnapping, aggravated battery against a household member, aggravated assault on a household member and false imprisonment.
New Mexico State Police tell NewsWest 9, Castillo was arrested following a foot pursuit back in July of 2012.
An investigation revealed that Castillo was holding the woman he was dating for several days against her will in a trailer in Hobbs.
We're told that Castillo also beat the victim severely with an ASP baton and a shower curtain rod. Officials also say that Castillo used an iron and butane torch to burn the victim.
There's no word yet on when sentencing will take place.
