MIDLAND - The weather didn't stop the Midland firefighters from hosting their “Kids Boot Camp.”
The event showed kids different physical activities related to fire safety and exercise.
The fire department says it's all in effort to lower childhood obesity.
“we have children sign up we have them come out and we teach them simple things about prevention for obesity as well as teaching them fitness, healthy eating and good well being all around,” Michael Cota with the Midland Fire Department, said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, childhood obesity affects 17 percent of all children in the United States.
