ODESSA - $650,000 was given as a special gift given to the West Texas Food Bank on Monday.
It was all part of a partnership. The food bank teamed up with resource company, BHP Billiton.
$150,000 will also go towards the Food 2 Kids program in Reeves County.
Food bank officials say this donation will complete their capital campaign.
The rest of the money is being used to finish their community kitchen in Reeves County.
"By us partnering with the West Texas Food Bank, we are providing for the Food 2 Kids program and building the community kitchen on behalf of BHP Billiton. This really combats hunger head on and hopefully it'll improve the community as it strengthens the family and the children that live in the community," Robert Manelis, General Manager of BHP Billiton Permian Operations, said.
The food bank says the community kitchen will be named after BHP Billiton in their honor.
