BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK- The National Park Service has implemented a new regulation on the use of all drones within the boundaries of Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River.

Park Service officials announced the ban did take effect August 20.

With unmanned aircraft becoming more accessible their use has resulted in an increase of noise complaints, safety concerns and the disruption of visitor experiences.

This new regulation applies only to lands administered by the National Park Service and does not apply to unmanned aircraft that is launched, landed or operated outside the park boundary. The prohibition will remain in effect until further notice.
