ARTESIA, N.M. - A lawsuit has been filed against federal immigration authorities claiming detainees at the detention center in Artesia, New Mexico, aren't getting proper legal representation.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit to get U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to change their policies that quickly deport immigrants without attorneys.

They, along with other legal groups, say a lack of due process for the women and children detained there isn't allowing them to present their cases for asylum.

They say the Artesia facility has turned into a "deportation mill" because of the barriers in place that stop immigrants from having lawyers.
