CARLSBAD, N.M. - Two Carlsbad officers who were involved in a fatal shooting are back on active duty.
Sergeant Edward Duarte and Officer David Desantiago were cleared by officials last week.
Last month, 24-year-old Troy Kirkpatrick was in custody when he allegedly assaulted a detention officer at a doctor's office then took off in a stolen vehicle.
The officers chased Kirkpatrick until he crashed the vehicle.
He was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and later died.
State police say they've already given the results of their investigation to the District Attorney's Office.
