Man Arrested on Charges of Tampering With Evidence, Evading Arrest

Odessa Police Department Press Release

Odessa Police arrested 44-year-old Jeffrey Lee Pickering on 8-15-14 for Tampering with Physical Evidence "3rd Degree Felony", Evading Arrest or Detention "Class A Misdemeanor" and a felony warrant out of Kermit for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle "State Jail Felony". Officers responded to Seven Eleven (800 North Grandview) in reference to solicitation.

Dispatch advised the solicitor was a white male with a pony tail wearing a blue shirt. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject matching the suspect's description. The suspect was identified as Pickering. A warrant check revealed Pickering had a felony warrant out of Kermit for stealing a vehicle.

As soon as officers advised Pickering of the warrant, he immediately began running eastbound on 8th Street. Shortly after officers caught Pickering, they observed him drop a crack pipe and attempt to crush it with his right foot. Pickering was charged and arrested accordingly.
