Man, Juvenile Arrested For Burglary of a Habitation

Odessa Police arrested 19-year-old Jaylen McCoy and 16-year-old juvenile on 8-15-14 for Burglary of a Habitation, a Second Degree Felony.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of East 21st Street in reference to a burglary in progress.

Dispatch advised two black males wearing white shirts had broken into a residence. The complainant advised the two suspects jumped over the fence and then used a pole to break a window.

While responding, officers observed two male subjects matching the suspect's description in an alley near Glenwood and 21st Street. The subjects were found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and a coin collection. The owner of the burglarized residence arrived on scene and advised they were missing a handgun and a coin collection. The two suspects were identified as McCoy and a 16-year-old male.

Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, McCoy and the male juvenile were charged and arrested accordingly. The stolen property was returned to its owner. McCoy was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center and the juvenile was transported to the Ector County Youth Center.
