MIDLAND - An Odessa man and a Midland woman got locked up over the weekend after officers found a lot of marijuana on them and you won't believe where the criminals tried to hide the drugs.
21-year-olds Giovanni Leyva and Cassandra Benavides are facing multiple charges including child endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.
An officer noticed them making frantic movements towards the center console when he tried to pull them over at the Interstate 20 service road and Rankin Highway.
They finally stopped in the parking lot of Wal-Mart.
That's when the officer found an unrestrained child in the backseat as well as about three grams of marijuana.
While they were being arrested, Leyva admitted he was planning to smoke soon and Benavides started laughing at them.
After they were taken to jail, the officer found another 39 grams of weed stuffed between the cushions of the backseat of the car.
