Woman Arrested on Several Charges Including Spitting in an Officer's Face

Odessa Police arrested Smith on 8-10-14 for Harassment of a Public Servant "3rd Degree Felony", Assault on a Public Servant "3rd Degree Felony", Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport "Class A Misdemeanor", Public Intoxication "Class C Misdemeanor" and a warrant for Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance "Class C Misdemeanor".

Officers responded to the 4900 block of East 42nd Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with one of the involved parties who was intoxicated, identified as Smith. A warrant check revealed that Smith had a local warrant and she was placed into custody.

While officers were arresting Smith, she pulled away from officers and actively resisted despite commands from officers. While Smith was being escorted to a patrol unit, she intentionally spit in Officer Tucker's face. After Smith was placed in the backseat of the patrol unit, she kicked Officer Arredando multiple times in the right arm, causing an abrasion to his right forearm. Smith was charged and arrested accordingly.
