Odessa Man Arrested on Robbery Charges

Odessa Police arrested Chavez on 8-11-14 for Robbery, a Second Degree Felony. Officers responded to 2618 North Granview (Kaleidoscoops) in reference to a burglary in progress. Investigation revealed that Chavez walked into the store holding a bag, approached a 16-year-old employee, and demanded all of the money from the register. Chavez made a gesture as if he had a handgun under his shirt. The 16-year-old victim immediately fled the scene and called police at a nearby business.

Chavez then fled the scene in a brown Chevrolet truck in an unknown direction without any money. Officers located Chavez along with his truck in the 3700 block of Andrews Highway. Chavez was transported to the police station and interviewed by detectives. The victim was able to positively identify Chavez as the robbery suspect. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Chavez was charged and arrested accordingly.
