BIG SPRING - 45-year-old Paul Hildreth was arrested on Sunday for allegedly breaking into a house on the 2600 block of Monticello and kissing a six year old girl. The little girl's mother is afraid he will make bail. Hildreth's bond is set at $45,000, NewsWest 9 spoke with Judge Timothy Green who set that bond. He said until all the facts are in, you're innocent until proven guilty.
"There is that element of innocent until proven guilty. At the time of setting a bond, you know that element is there. However, you know there are still a few things that you want to consider," Judge Green said.
The investigation is ongoing and a bond was put in place to assure Hildreth's case will be seen by the District Attorney.
"It wasn't a million dollar bond. It was more let's hear what's going on and see the evidence come in. Things are still playing out as we talk," Green said.
The mother, who didn't want to be identified, claims she woke up and saw Hildreth kissing her six year old daughter. She's upset by the bond amount and is fearful Hildreth could be back out on the streets.
"I don't even bring my kids outside anymore. I have them locked in the house all day long, I don't even leave the house myself," the mother said.
Judge Green said overall a lot still has to be done with the investigation, regardless that Hildreth is a registered sex offender.
"There is still some things that will still be worked out from the investigators. There are still a few people that they're going to call in for questioning," Green said.
The question remains is there a threat of Hildreth leaving town if he bonds out?
