Odessa Girl in Stable Condition After Jumping Out of Moving Vehicle

ODESSA - An Odessa girl is now in stable condition following an accident on Tuesday night.

The accident happened in the 500 block of Zeneta just before 9 p.m.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, a white Chevrolet Silverado, being operated by a 13-year-old, was traveling southbound with a five year old female in the bed of the truck.

We're told the five year old jumped out of the back of the truck while the Silverado was in motion, causing the five year old to sustain life-threatening injuries.

The girl was taken to Medical Center Hospital and later airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition. Officials say the 13-year-old was not injured.

The 13-year-old was cited for not having a driver's license.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
