Ector County Man Arrested for DWI, Evading

Odessa Police Department Press Release:

Odessa Police arrested Holman on Monday, August 4, 2014, for Evading in a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony) and Driving While Intoxicated (Class B Misdemeanor). Yesterday afternoon, officers observed a white Ford Mustang traveling southeast on Kermit Highway run a red light at University. As soon as the driver of the Mustang saw the OPD patrol vehicle, the Mustang spun and squeal its tires and accelerated through the intersection nearly hitting other vehicles. As officers activated their emergency lights and siren, the Mustang ran a second red light at Golder nearly causing another accident.

Officers stopped following the Mustang due to heavy traffic and safety reasons as it continued south on Grant at approximately 100 miles per hour. Officers placed an attempt to locate on the Mustang as it evaded officers. Another officer located the Mustang at 3rd and Grant and conducted a traffic stop on it. While making contact with the driver, identified as Holman, officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Further investigation revealed Holman to be intoxicated and he was charged and arrested accordingly.
