Caught on Camera: Burglar Breaks In To Solid Waste Plant and Time Machine

ODESSA - Instead of robbing a convenience store, one man decided to rob the Solid Waste Department and the Time Machine in Odessa back in April, and it was all caught on camera.

Both locations clearly have it posted that the surveillance cameras are rolling, but instead of hiding his face or just going home altogether, this burglar stared right at the camera.

"The video's not real great but we're hoping somebody will recognize his mannerisms or his movement," Susan Rogers with Odessa Crime Stoppers said.

That wasn't the only fun this man had while at the recycling plant, however. He shopped around the pile of garbage for quite awhile, going through empty barrels of copper and brass, milling about the various items that so many people have thrown away, and playing with a blow dart gun.

Yes, a blow dart gun.

He is seen in the video acting like a kid again, putting the dart up to his mouth and dreaming of the good 'ol days.

"He didn't leave with the blow gun, and we do have it in evidence," Rogers said. "So if someone is able to give us a name, we might be able to match that up with what we got."

The man ended up taking over $1000 worth of equipment from both the building and a city vehicle.

"He took some grinders, welders and some welding tips, and some torches, electric drill, impact drill, some different things like that from the solid waste department," Rogers said.

And the fun just keeps on coming, as the clothes start coming off.

The burglar at one point takes off his shirt and continues to dig through the trash, taking his sweet time before he heads to jail for three felonies.

"Pay attention to the way he's dressed, the shorts he has on, the short socks with the shoes, look at his hair, and I really believe somebody who knows that guy may recognize him on this video," Rogers said.

So just remember, the next time you get stuck in a stinky situation, you may be caught on camera.

If you think you recognize this man, please call Odessa Crime Stoppers at 333-TIPS and you may get a cash reward.
