MIDLAND - It's an exciting week for the Midland school district.
Officials broke ground on one of three new elementary schools on Tuesday.
Barbara Fasken Elementary will be located on the northwest side of town.
Officials say the school will hold 800 students and will be opened by fall of next year.
They say a lot of planning and teamwork was put into the project, especially the design phase.
"We had more than a year of just design work. On this, we had community groups come together, we had teacher groups come together, our district leadership. Every stake holder was invited to the table for the design for all three of our buildings and I really do love the partnerships that we've made during the design phase," Midland ISD Superintendent, Dr. Ryder Warren, said.
Officials will break ground on Wednesday for Southwest Elementary.
